Automotive News to Host Green Car Conference June 16th in Novi, Michigan
The Automotive News is once again holding a Green Car Conference. The theme will be “Making Green Mainstream, Barriers and Acclerators to meeting the new CAFE standards and beyond”. Their last conference focusing on “green cars” was held in the fall of 2008 at the same venue in the greater Detroit area, and was dominated by “Big 3″ participants and suppliers. Oh, how the automotive world has changed since then!
It will be interesting to see if there is participation from any of the electric car startups. The odds are slim, as it seems that the event is focused on CAFE standards, something that only the old guard of the automotive world will have trouble meeting. It seems to me only poetic license would allow a conference centered on meeting government regulation to be called a “Green”. A little greenwash perhaps? At least the registration fee is $200 cheaper than in 2008. A sign of the times in Detroit?

It never ceases to surprise me that, with a bit of extra searching online, you can stumble on some of the most unique blogs.
